Gotcha
Gotcha is a fully on-device AI copilot for Android developed by Samosa-AI. It turns natural language commands into real device actions across more than 100 built-in tools, from sending texts and making calls to controlling system settings, managing media, and automating screen interactions. It runs entirely on the phone and supports bring-your-own-model (BYOM) configuration with local or cloud endpoints, and new users receive free Samosa AI credits to test features. The app currently requires Android 11 or newer. The app includes two complementary modes: Monitor (40+ read-only tools for inspecting device state and screen context) and Operator (all 100+ tools for executing changes). Users can switch modes instantly and are notified through visual indicators—a blue ring indicates foreground reading, while an orange ring indicates background processing. Permission controls are structured across four tiers, from everyday operations to privileged access, and all actions are logged in an append-only audit log to keep users aware of what the assistant does. Gotcha also ships with a floating Assistive Ball, enabling push-to-talk voice activation from any screen. Voice calls allow the assistant to see your current screen and act on your behalf, such as searching the web for similar shirts while shopping online. The project provides a direct APK download via GitHub releases and includes documentation for safety permissions, setup, and broader customization.

Problem solved
Gotcha addresses the friction of managing a smartphone manually by letting users speak natural-language instructions to automate tasks on-device. It eliminates the need for cloud round trips for common device operations, preserves privacy, and provides granular control via permission levels.
